Phillip's silver badge upsets bearded bystander!

It was lovely to see so many people yesterday evening. And somehow, it didn't feel like the end. If anyone has any photos to share here, please email them to phillipdarnton@posterous.com
Several people said they might like a copy of Phillip's book so, as promised, I've made it public on Blurb: see the link or email me. I have skipped the 'make a profit from the book' option, so it's at the standard price of the publisher. I've also set it so you can leaf through an online version without ordering a paper copy.
Thanks again for all the wonderful contributions.

Dear Phillip,
I would like to thank you for providing a rare combination of support to me and Cycle Derby, during the past year particularly: you have been at once our inspiration and our rock.
Your constant, confident, and buoyant presence has been a great comfort and steadying influence.
I hope that you are as thrilled as we are with all that has been achieved and will continue to be achieved in the years to follow, largely as a direct result of your brilliant leadership and your tremendous team.
Wishing you all the very best in life
Lynn Johnston,

Thank you for all the work you have done at Cycling England to progress cycling in this country (and in Colchester).
The Cycle Town initiative has been an excellent project to be part of albeit a rather rollercoaster ride recently as we try to deliver and overcome the barriers to cycling – infrastructure is so controversial!!
Having had a difficult interview in Birmingham we were amazed to have been selected as one of the towns for the second phase but hopefully we have demonstrated over the last 3 years that we were fully committed to the project and are looking to use what we have learnt in the future.
I managed to attend most of the Southern area 1/4ly network meetings and it was great to be able to meet so many dedicated and passionate people. In that environment it was easy to think that every body cycled.
The “Wilky’s” for the 1/4ly meetings would be
All the best to those involved in Cycling England and good luck for the future in what ever you are doing.
The future’s bright the future’s by bike

Phillip is an intensely charming, lovely, charismatic and committed man who has done more to promote cycling than probably anyother single person in the last 10years. Phillip helped to change the debate that we didn't have to just build things but we had to promote them as well, that we had to reach out from the silo to new cyclists and listen to their concerns and address them.
It was my privilege to be in on Bike It at the start and get to know Phillip well. I have been inspired by listening to him talk. He has a legacy to be truly proud of.

It’s been fantastic to work with you on the development of the Bike It project. Your eloquence in persuading the bike industry to back Bike It, your messages of support to project staff and a desire to see people working together, have all helped to introduce the joys of cycling to thousands of children across the country.
